Greetings to all. Check out my new Substack page, tramwell.substack.com. That’s where the emails are now coming from. This page (on beehiiv) is still running. I’ll be using both for a brief while to see which one works best for me.

In other news, the new copies are in, and they are noticeably thinner. 60 pages or about 4 mm thinner, to be precise. Both are perfectly readable, and I have more pricing flexibility with a tiny bit more in royalties.

Meanwhile, the audiobook is progressing to the production stage. I posted the project on ACX last Sunday and, in just one day, I got over two dozen voice actors sending in their audition samples. Moreover, it turns out I didn’t have to give up on duet narration. One of the submissions was from a voice actor couple that offered to do just that. So, it’s going to be two different voices and, most importantly, it’s not going to be the same voice for several chapters in a row.

By the way, seeing how ACX works (with the “make offer” button disappearing as soon as I sent one), I’m not sure they’d even let me hire two different actors at the same time. I would most likely need to create two separate projects, one for each voice, and split the manuscript accordingly. So I’m glad this couple ran into my project. I can’t wait for them to send in the first 15-minute part. (Roughly 2200 words, which would be chapter 1 and the first scene from chapter 2.)

What’s left is the trailer. Not so much the production itself, but the screenplay. And I’ll let you in on a secret - AI is no help, just like it wasn’t much help with the synopsis, let alone the sales blurb. 100,000 words - that’s way too many for ChatGPT or Grok to digest. So I’ll have to do my own dirty work, and I’ll have all the free time in the next two weeks to do just that.

Have a great weekend, a merry Christmas, and a happy New Year.

Cheers,

Leonard.
