Good evening, everyone.
First, the good news - I just finished another marathon. It took 3 evenings to review the proofread text and copy the changes into Scrivener. Once again, I must commend Jill for completing the proofreading so quickly. (I thought I would be doing this over Thanksgiving weekend.)
Also, I revised the sales blurb to incorporate the coming-of-age theme and sent it to Joe for tomorrow's Zoom call. Let's see how the two themes blend and what feedback I get this time.
Unfortunately, I still have plenty of things left to attend to. The cover is just one of them. I received the first concept on Monday evening, and we've made progress since then, but it feels like we still have a long way to go. Then, I must finally download Publisher Rocket and spend some time figuring out the most effective keywords for my book. Not to mention tweaking tweaking the front and the back matter. (There won’t be much, but nevertheless, it still needs to be done.)
And I want to listen to what I hope is the final version of the text, just to ensure everything is correct, nothing has been accidentally deleted, etc. At approximately 190 words per minute, 97625 words in Scrivener would take roughly 8.5 hours, assuming I resist the temptation to make any more last-minute changes. That’s two more evenings.
So, I guess I won’t be able to make it by the 13th. I almost made it, but almost doesn’t count. Or does it? A lot of work has been done. We're almost there. There will be a slight delay, but I should have everything ready by the Full Time Fiction Live, which is October 23. Stay tuned for more updates.
Have a happy Thanksgiving Day / Columbus Day weekend. And a happy Leif Erikson Day, too. Speaking of which - if you want to get in the spirit, consider "Heroes of the Nine Realms," a Norse mythology fantasy series penned by our colleague Alex E. Martin.
Cheers.
Leonard.
